recently, Nicholas D. Kristof wrote an editorial on Mukhtaran Bibi – a fund raiser concert, the PDC InFest, was organized by LUMS to raise money for her. Reading the article, and the follow up editorial got me thinking, and the following paragraph from the article itself sumarizes how i feel about the issue:

Musharraf said, according to The Associated Press. “I don’t want to project a bad image of Pakistan.”

I sympathize. From Karachi to the Khyber Pass, Pakistan is one of the most hospitable countries I’ve ever visited. So, President Musharraf, if you want to improve Pakistan’s image, here’s some advice: Just prosecute rapists with the same zeal with which you persecute rape victims.

i honestly wish the government would do more to help the negative image of Pakistan, and the above mentioned articles clearly show an example of what NOT to do.
